About this course

Building your first Zap walks you through creating an automated workflow on Zapier. At the end of this 16min course, you'll be able to solve basic business problems using Zapier.

What we'll cover:

  • Building a Simple Zap from a Template: You'll create a basic Zap that notifies you whenever someone fills out your contact form. This gets you experimenting with Zap triggers and actions in a low-risk setting.
  • Field Mapping: Next, you'll configure your Zap to include the contact form response in your notification. Passing data from one step of your Zap to another, known as Field Mapping, is a critical Zap-building skill.
  • Expanding to Multi-Step Workflows: Finally, you'll elevate your Zap by adding a second action, this time using Gmail. This prepares you to automate multi-step workflows and build Zaps that connect with different apps.

The Beginner Series

Building your first Zap is the second course in our beginner series.

  • Discover your first automation: Learn to identify tasks worth automating and formulate a clear plan for your first automation project.
  • (This course) Building your first Zap: Step-by-step guidance creating your first automated workflow.
  • Enhancing your Zaps: We'll move on to more complex automations, teaching you to integrate multiple actions, conditional logic, and even leverage AI.

Who Should Enroll:
If you're eager to start building and experimenting with Zaps, this course is for you! If, however, you've already successfully built Zaps on Zapier, then you'd best be served jumping straight to Enhancing your Zaps.
